Sculptor's Attitude
by Author Unknown

I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I am important. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.

Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.
Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.
Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive.
Today I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.
Today I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.
Today I can mourn my lack of friend or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships.
Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.
Today I can complain because I have to go to school or eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.
Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or I can feel honored because the Lord has provide shelter for my mind, body and soul.
Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped. And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.

What today will be like is up to me. I get to choose what kind of day I will have!

Resolutions...

Everyone seemed to post resolutions last week.
I do have a few and even since I have made them I have updated them.

-Remember people's Birthdays. I was so good at this and I have really let it slide this past year. So I want to get better at that.
-Blog at least 2 times a month. I was going to try to blog every week but I have a hard time with it, so I need to start small.
-Finish one project a month. I have a ton of projects I have started but I have not finished. So I need to get somethings finished. I think it will make me feel better and it will get rid of some of my clutter.
-Organize the house, most importantly my Craft room.
-Find a organization (or 2) to volunteer my time.

I think these things will make me feel a lot better about where I am in my life. Also it will help me get into a good schedule and keep my mind off the bad parts about not having a job.

So Cheers to 2012! I wish everyone Heath & Happiness!

Cheers!

Adventures in Home Ownership

If you follow me on Twitter you know I have had some issues with my Kitchen recently. Issues is a nice word. It more like a total disaster!
Let me start from the beginning.

In September, My refrigerator leaked. The floor beneath warped so eventually I called my insurance who agreed that they would replace the kitchen floor. Good News!

Flash forward a few months and we begin to take up the floor and clean up the mess. But what we find is a bigger mess. The family that had lived in my house before I purchased it had put in a new kitchen. It is lovely and a selling point for the house. But what I did not know was that when they put in the new kitchen they also covered up a huge issue... a HUGE MOLD issue. To say that I was angry was an understatement.

So the before Christmas we really started looking at what was going on. This is what was going on....

Why Yes, That is a crap load of mold. So I got a dehumidifier and an Air Purifier for Christmas!
So I had to wait till after the holiday but then we decided we had to pull it all up. There was too much mold and too much "unknown" because we could not see under the cabinets. So the Thursday after Christmas the cabinets came out along with the Corian Countertop (which is one piece).

So I spent my New Year's Eve in my bedroom, which I now call my "studio apartment" because that is where I have been living.
Right after the new year we pulled every thing up to see what was really going on. Turns out that we had to pull all the plywood up in a portion of my kitchen.
This is what that was all about....

What I really want to know is, WHO THE EFF COVERS SHIT LIKE THIS UP? It makes me so angry. I had to sleep in my house one night with the floor open (ok it was covered up) and risk sleeping with a raccoon in my bed. (yes, I realize I am being a bit over dramatic) But it really makes me mad.
And not only was the floor a mess there were 3 different wires that were in the walls that were fire hazards that an inspector would never see. So I guess it is a good thing that this happened so at least I don't have quite as many fire hazards anymore.

As of right now the new floor is in but the cabinets are not in so as soon as that is complete I will let everyone see. In the meantime I will be in my Apartment eating my dinner off my bed and hoping that it all gets fixed sooner or later.

Cheers!

Distractions

Because I am unemployed I spend a lot of time in Starbucks, Panera Bread or Barnes & Noble. All have free Wifi and "usually" pretty distraction free. Well it is better than home where I can think of 10,000 other things I need to do and then end up sleepy.
So coming to one of my favorite hang outs usually works out better for me. I seem to get more done. Well as I sit here at the Barnes & Noble I have been distracted 3 times.

-As I walked in a saw a puppy.... in the store. So of course I went over and checked him out. Cutest 10 week old French Bulldog. Nearly Scooped him up and put him in my "very loved" Lilly Pulitzer bag and ran away with him.  So now I keep thinking about that puppy. Distraction Numero Uno.
- Not one but two separate guys are/were sleeping in the chairs upstairs. One right next to me. @lifeofmarge suspected that they have wives they are avoiding. But a chair.... in the Barnes & Noble? Things must be really bad at home.
-Then there was a table that was obviously occupied. It had a bunch of papers and books piled on it. Now while I don't agree to Saving yourself that space while your trot over to the Earth Fare for a snack. (i saw the girls whose table it was over there while I enjoyed my lunch) It is your table. But some chick with a Calculator that needed to be plugged into the wall came in and sat down with her piles of papers and made the table her own... The girls came back from snack time and she had to move. The only calculators that I know of anymore that need to be plugged into the wall anymore are called COMPUTERS.
-My favorite man is here today as well. He plays Chess by himself. I am not sure he really plays. But he seems to enjoy his time with his fold up cloth chess set and I can usually bet that he is here 90% of the time that I am. I should introduce myself but then I would be making friends at Barnes & Noble and I would have to get a hole punched in my loser card.

So for the past 15 minutes I have been distracted by those silly things enough to distract me from my real purpose which was to search Job boards for a job that will pay me money to be distracted by other things like twitter and pintrest while at work.

So since I have really got nothing done except write this post & make an appointment for the Genius Bar at the Apple store I think I am going to go look for that puppy.

Happy Distractions to you all!
Cheers!

She even gave a shout out to Moi (her word not mine) and my sweet baby Claire. Shasta and I have an affinity for Smushed face babies, AKA Pugs. I truly am jealous of her now that she has 2 pugs in her family, Those are 2 very blessed pugs to have hit the jackpot like they did with that great Pug Mama!

So if you are or are not in the need for all things that make you look nice and summery check it out. Or if you just love pugs check it out too!

Toodles,
Robud

For my Fans...My 1 Fan.

I don't really have any fans. I have 21 flowers and I think one of those is me. But anyway, my friend Shasta from Shasta Anne asked me "why no bloggy?" And quite frankly I don't know. I have lots of things to say: Unemployment sucks, I wish I could lose weight, I love Twitter but LOATE Facebook. See lots of things.
But for now I need to talk about something important, really important. Why the Eff does Ashley on The Bachelorette insist on showing off her abs. Yes, I am being serious. (but I will get to that later)

I am currently on week 2 of no cable. Meaning if I turn my TV on I get static. My roommate moved out and with him he took the Direct TV boxes and the account that went with them. Since I don't have a "big girl job", I decided to save money I would not get cable. I pay my Mom's Cable bill each month and for basic cable its about $75. That is $75 I could spend on something else. It is the summer and despite it being 95 degrees already in June; there are many other ways that I can spend my time other than watching TV. Including but not limited to FINDING A JOB.

But I did find Hulu. Its great, If I ever need a "fix" I can find a show that I love and check out the recent episodes. I have always been a fan of the Bachelorette Franchise. I even "interviewed" to be on the show during the run of the Italian Businessman, Whatever his name Borghese. Obviously, I did not make it because I would now not be looking for a job but I would be driving Italian automobiles on the California coast. Or at least that I what I think I would be doing. But I digress.

During each season of the Bachelor or Bachelorette there seems to be something that gets to the masses or gets to me. While Ali was on I remember lots of talk of her hair extensions, I liked her hair and I liked her but what do I know. But I have noticed something this season. I am probably only picking up on it because I watched back to back episodes on my Mac that is 2 feet away from my face but Ashley likes to show off her abs. Don't get my wrong, if my stomach looked like hers I might be showing it off too. However, I would not be going to great lengths to show it off. I noticed it when she was 'dancing' at her local studio where she would break it down. But I really noticed it this week.

She is in Thailand, we get a panoramic shot of the hotel that is graciously given them a place to lay their heads while they are visiting and then BAM! Ashley walking along the sidewalk, in a tank top... But no its no Ordinary tank top. Someone, somewhere has insisted on taking the front of said top, cutting a slit up from the bottom so she can tie it in a knot, thus showing off her abs. Really, just let the poor girl wear her bikini and a sarong. At least she would not look so silly. So next week I challenge you to find the Ab spotting's. I am sure there will be many.

Speaking of next week, do you really think they will bring Bentley back? If so the producers are mean-spirited jerks. But I bet they would be fun to sit and people watch with. But really, he said he did not like her at all numerous times. I don't think it would be fair to have him come back other than for some good television. I am sort of hoping that they bring Brad back. Rumor has it that he and Emily are done for good and she is shopping at my local Nordstrom. Who knew we had paparazzi in Charlotte, but dang it if I did not see a photo of her with a Nordies bag with a caption that said she was out "running errands" in Charlotte. If I catch a photo of her and sell it to Star magazine do I have to claim that money for my 2011 taxes? Looks like I might have found a job after all......
